Request ID / driver's license

Get a clear photo or scan of a government-issued ID for the homeowner — and for everyone on title, plus any potential co-signers. Lenders need ID for every signer before they can pull credit.

If the customer has a credit freeze, lift it

If the lender's credit pull is declined or stuck in review, the customer likely has a credit freeze on their TransUnion file. Have them call TransUnion and ask for a global lift so the lender can access their credit report.

Credit freeze: what you need to know — A credit freeze blocks lenders from accessing your credit report. To lift it, call TransUnion at 1-888-909-8872 and ask for a global lift. You may need to provide your Social Security Number, date of birth, current address, and PIN/passcode if previously created.
